TODD KRAUSE, A MAN OF GREATNESS!

Who is this guy, anyway?  He runs a flooring company.  He’s also the mayor of Lake Geneva.  The staff of the GSR has been through several mayors.  Tom Hartz was okay, but wanted to give a huge chunk of property away to a company to develop, and he was stopped, partially by the GSR!  Charlene was a mayor recommended by the editorial board of the GSR.  She beat Tom Hartz in a very close election, and then she began to go into hell in a handbag, and she’s not stopped from doing that. She and ‘Joani the Diner,’ former city council member, are allegedly trying to have Howland voted in as mayor and then Anthony, from Magpies, to the city council.  Oh please, neither of these men is made of the right stuff for those positions. What do they want?

Uncontrolled parking rates, uncontrolled developments, Hillmoor decisions that are not legal, and so much more, have catapulted this group back into having some power.  Hoyland and Anthony, running for mayor and city council seats, are all about the city’s benefits and income.  Pay attention as the GSR has. The GSR supported the election of Charlene.  She did two good things before she went ‘south’ on the city: She supported and made the purchase of Hillmoor happen.  She also held wonderful holiday benefit parties for the wealthy in Lake Geneva and around the lake to attend.

What is it that the community of Lake Geneva wants?  Do the citizens want what’s going on nationally, with war on every horizon? Or does the citizenship want peace, calm, and quiet good sense to be applied?  And now the Lake Geneva Regional News, yes, that newspaper of over a hundred years of publishing, is about to be gone.  The billionaire who bought the holding company is not likely to keep the Regional News, a paper that has been losing money for years, but still doing the job  The Geneva Shore Report is the only other valid newspaper in the city, yet it is unlikely that the owners of the current Regional News will accept an offer by the GSR to take over that newspaper and try to continue the long history of its great history of objective reporting.

Todd has been a remarkable mayor, and his leadership has been simply outstanding. The person running against him has no recommendation from the GSR staff. He performed adequately as a council member, but he’s no diplomat, and that’s what that job calls for. Peg Esposito is running for office after serving a term earlier.  She is an outstanding woman and very up to the job she did so well before.  Sheri Ames is running to keep her seat, which is interesting.  Sheri has been a very outspoken member of the council in her two years of service.  She has a determined posture, personality, and active engagement that is hard not to admire.  If she weren’t a council member, she might be writing for the Geneva Shore Report!  Beverly, one of the owners of Delany Street, is hosting a meeting of all the candidates at the Cultural Hall on Broad Street on March 12.  This woman is amazing in her zeal and organizational ability.  The Regional News used to host this event, but times have changed. Maybe Beverly would consider running for a position on the council or at least head up some committees.
