THE WINDS OF CHANGE
For a variety of reasons, not all rational, many people in the United States wanted things to change drastically from how they were before the current leadership took over. Those changes are coming to this public but still silently regarding the effects of those changes. Even though a majority of the population receives some sort of financed or service support from federal government offices and organizations, that fact will not be nearly as apparent to those who wanted these changes until such change effects actually and personally reach those people. Somehow, a majority of the public was convinced that, at the country’s pinnacle of economic and international relations effect, those two areas could be sacrificed in the name of avoiding communism or the portrayed weakness of the democratic party.
A blustering aggressive white male set of leaders, with few exceptions, was selected, even though those leaders almost invariably had and have no record of ever being tough at all in life unless it was a cruel toughness exhibited toward women, children, disabled veterans and anyone else not in a position of power or high finance. As the democratic republic responded to the effects of the very successful republican media blitz, it is getting its way. Only at the local level is there to be much relief from the severing of so many financial and service functions that have been provided at the federal level. Democracy is not coming to the USA, it’s already here. It’s the effects of rather uninformed democratic effect that are coming to the USA and the communities around Geneva Lake, as a part of that. The changes not fully in effect that may involve major considerations and response to in the communities around Lake Geneva and within the city itself are:
- The Department of Education has been gutted. Changes in childcare that elementary schools once provided as a secondary benefit to education will likely be much less, as well as class sizes increasing and schools closing.
- Weather prediction will become much less available as the NOAA has been basically dissolved and gave predictive data to all local stations around the nation.
- Benefits (even entitlements like Social Security and Medicare) may well be cut or ended. Badgercare (Wisconsin’s name for Medicaid) is likely to be severely cut back or eliminated. Veterans’ benefits and medical care may be cut or minimized (VA workers are being cut as this is written).
- Federal subsidies to local police, fire, and court pay and equipment will be minimized or cut off completely.
- Travel to foreign countries will be minimized or not permitted, and visits from many foreign countries will not be permitted.
- Road building and repair subsidies may be curtailed or ended.
The staff of the Geneva Shore Report is not making any of this up, as even more changes are being revealed on almost an hourly basis. Some of these changes, the changes the nation voted for, may not occur as public reaction can still affect implementation. Nations like Canada, France, and Denmark are almost unilaterally refusing to stock, sell, or purchase American products. At least temporarily, prices on almost all goods are going up with the application of the tariffs going into effect and retaliatory tariffs as well. Last week, the GSR recommended cutting back on almost all spending on the part of the local lake communities, and that advice is proving to be a good one to follow. The communities around Geneva Lake cannot afford to budget based upon hope alone.
The Chief Executive Officer of this nation indicated recently that these new policies supported by the electorate would cause some pain. Please believe what he said. The winds of change are set to blow wildly through the canyons of all of our lives in the USA, and preparing mentally is as important as doing so physically. Watch your television and pay attention. These winds are going to blow whether you want them to or not, whether you are prepared for them or not.
