DEBATE SAID IT ALL!

The Grand Lake Geneva Electoral Debate of 2024.
123 people from Lake Geneva and the surrounding area attended the debate in person, and thousands more have viewed the video of the debate that remains available for free viewing on the Geneva Shore Report Facebook website. What happened at the debate that brought the subject up to be considered and then presented as a newspaper headline? The small-town sincerity and displayed reality of real people choosing other real people to lead them on into what appears to be a difficult and fractured future.

Mayor Mayor spoke in hushed tones about almost nothing, as if the election results are a given and she has nothing whatever to be worried about.  Then Todd Krause spoke, and the rain fell, all over Mayor Mayor and her mean-spirited team of lackluster ‘proto leaders’ surrounding her.  His presentation was delivered straight from the shoulder and aimed from his heart and mind directly at the hearts and minds of all those who might tune in to his message.  It’s about the money.  It’s about the appointed leadership team.  It’s about making the appointed committee members do their jobs to give him the data to make the best decisions for everyone. What a continuing series of breaths of fresh air!

Joanie the Diner stood to stumble about and mumble things nobody could understand and then her nemesis, Sheri Ames grabbed the microphone and sounded off.  A man looking like ‘Floyd R. Turbo’ from the old Johnny Carson show was on hand along with this ‘Jingles’ sort of sidekick, a whiter much more rotund and shorter version of the Blazing Saddles character.  This is part of the current leadership rollicking clown show actually involved with the current ‘do nothing and you can do nothing wrong’ mindset of Mayor Mayor’s outfit.

Taking a page from other national leaders across the globe, the expressed leadership talent of this entire group the public needs to accept out of their current positions and back into its ‘loving’ arms, can best be described as mean-spirited nastiness.  Seinfeld could have better directed the show’s character George to display even more flagrantly how effective it can be to act nasty and mean to make everyone around you think you are working very hard while doing nothing.

Pam Wilkinson shone brightly as a candidate from nowhere against her poorly hair-pieced opponent.  He spoke about nothing, so you have an idea of who he’s aligned with.  Watch the video on the GSR site on Facebook.  Consider your voting options but please don’t forget about some of the fabulous citizens, residents, owners, and business operators who are always available for consulting and hard work who are not candidates for office, like: Stephanie Klett of Visit Lake Geneva, the Bennets who own and run Cornerstone, Bob and Amy Odette running the Shipping Emporium, Casey, the wonder woman manager of Starbucks downtown, the entire management and staff of Inspiration Coffee shop, Sean Payne of Clearwater and the Farmers Market, and even the brilliantly and wildly expressive board of the Lake Geneva Jaycees.

This Lake Geneva place, area, and city is an area populated by unsung heroes of different sexes, education, time in residence, appearance and so much more.  This land is your land, quoting from Bob Seeger, and you must selfishly treat it that way or it will be taken from you.

The GSR is supporting Todd Krause because he’s a good guy (in Honduras for a few days helping blind kids see again!).  It’s not what he may do on behalf of the city.  It’s about what he is.
