RALLY AROUND THE FLAG!

The Lake Geneva Police Department as always has been diligent about giving everyone a heads up when something is not right.  Truly ‘protecting and serving’ is what the small but very professional and friendly Lake Geneva department is all about.

Recently the department has been informed that an individual has been calling citizens claiming to be a Lake Geneva detective using the name William Bryce. The caller claims to be contacting people for legal reasons. This is not how the department handles fighting crime.  That means that this caller is a fraud.  If called, you should hang up and call the department immediately. The police department also sent out a notice on social media reminding everyone to lock their cars. This has been an issue from time to time, cars have been unlocked and opened, some locks have been broken into, and rummaged through, and unfortunately, things have been stolen.

Just east of the city, there have been some smash and grabs (where they break a window and take whatever they can see of value). Stolen credit cards from these incidents have been used at local stores. This is a problem in almost every community on some level so it’s always a good reason to take your keys, remove your valuables, and lock your vehicle, and don’t ever leave your key fob in the car without anyone in that car. Neighborhood Watch groups are an effective way to help each other and decrease the number of petty crimes.

Recently the Lake Geneva Police Department reached out to the community, encouraging citizens to join watch groups and to help them help themselves and all of us, as well.  Any concerns, questions, or report issues, call the Lake Geneva Police Department at 262-248-4455. Narcan overdose kits are important in police work as well as for the general citizenry.  Narcan kits are available at Aram Public Library in Delavan. Aram Public Library is one of the first libraries in the county to offer an emergency Narcan kit to the community. Supplies are free to those in need and are located on the lower level of the library.

There is no financial charge, no applied judgment, and no identification required.  Narcan is the only medicine on the market that can reverse an opioid overdose. It attaches to opioid receptors and reverses and blocks the effects of other opioids. It can quickly restore breathing to a person if their breathing has slowed or stopped because of an opioid overdose. Naloxone (the trade name of Narcan) should be given to any person who shows signs of an opioid overdose or when an overdose is suspected. Naloxone can be given as a nasal spray or it can be injected into the muscle, under the skin, or into the veins. There is also no harm if Narcan is administered to someone who isn’t overdosing.  The drug is also not part of any treatment for opioid use disorder.  In these difficult times in politics at home and wars abroad, it’s vitally important to give constant support to the police, particularly when the police forces available to citizens around Geneva Lake have become outstanding in almost every way.

Waving and just saying hello can help make an officer’s day, even though it may not seem so to the person doing the greeting.
