THANKSGIVING!
Thursday, November 28th is Thanksgiving. So many will be traveling to spend time with friends and family. This is the time of year when gratitude and appreciation can be felt as people come together to love and help each other. Not everyone has a family nearby during the holidays, so this makes the Walworth County Complimentary Dinner a big deal. This free community meal has been a part of the giving season in the area for decades.
Thanksgiving meals are available for all those who want or need them. It is a wonderful dinner that brings the community together during the holidays. No one should be hungry or alone on Thanksgiving. The dinner will be on Thanksgiving Day November 28th from 11 a.m. through 2 p.m. at Waters Edge 1220 South Shore Drive on Delavan Lake.
Happy Thanksgiving from the GSR. Thanksgiving in the year of 2024 takes on a much deeper meaning as the population of the entire United States begins to get the idea, blatantly provided by the now seemingly objective mass media, that the appointments of men and women to key positions in the coming governmental leadership are going to cause the implementation of hardships not seen since the great depression at the early part of the 20thcentury. Thanksgiving must be considered and applied to those times that have passed before, that was so rich and wonderful for most and also to gathering together to form small units of self-protection as devastation trotted out under the titles of ‘cost saving’ and ‘excessive spending’ begin to bite even the coming cold of the nation’s winter.
Shakespeare wrote of a ‘winter of discontent’ but that it is a mere shadow of reality likely to be visited upon a public that was so easily but expensively convinced that it was living miserably and in great discomfort. So many of the 195 countries of the world, the majority, are living in exactly those conditions and prayer must become also part of a Thanksgiving regimen for everyone. Not the ‘prayer’ of so many entertainment church organizations that have spread across the nation but those appeals straight to God and his only Son at this time of the year.
The Geneva Lake communities that surround the special lake named that, are fortunate and thanks should be given for that. The water in the lake is pure and clear. The lake serves as a gathering place for others to come and then be charged to help all those who work to keep the lake what it is. As the year ends and Christmas is celebrated, the New Year looms and we must all give thanks to family and circles of friends. A protective governmental system that was designed by the founders and built to perfection over the years is about to be very rapidly disassembled to once again be replaced with ‘tribal’ units of survival. Give thanks if you are part of such a tribe and expand to take in others around you. The good news from spawning disaster is that it allows humanity in those places of fear and terror to grow closer together and become stronger.
