THE SOUND OF DISTANT DRUMS
Twenty-three percent of all citizens living in Lake Geneva are dependent upon the SNAP program for food. This used to be called food stamps, but has evolved to be more like a credit or debit card over the years. The average SNAP program payment per month is about six hundred and forty dollars. Five or six solid visits to a grocery store (not allowed to purchase alcohol, snack foods, and much more) for staples to feed the family. Lake Geneva is not a wealthy community. It is broken like society is broken, between those who have gobs of money living on the lake and all those who work away at the service jobs required in a tourist economy. Those jobs don’t pay really well, many of them similar in pay and work hours to what the now detested and abused migrant workers have had through the years, until so many are being frozen to death in the clutching gas-expanding delivering arms of an outfit appropriately called ICE.
The end of SNAP has already occurred, as there will be no distribution of cards or money under the SNAP program in November, just as winter begins to bite in Southern Wisconsin. The community and the entire country are not ready for these kinds of galvanic changes coming to the neighborhoods they live in and around, either around Geneva Lake or around the entire country. The, by far, most wealthy country ever to exist on this earth will not feed its people, will not shelter them if they are in need, and will not even extend those benefits described in the New Testament of the Bible. The Christian religions, churches, and preachers of the USA have, by and large, retreated to the Old Testament for determining their conduct. An eye for an eye is where they live, and as long as they have eye protectors, which they mostly do right now, that can work for them. But it’s not going to work for those who don’t have that, who can’t feed their families or have much of a family life anymore.
Those people will figure out where there’s food, and it’s not at the grocery stores. They will figure out where there’s money, and it’s not at the banks. They will go back and join those new religious groups and forego the New Testament to apply those failed principles and conduct as described in the Old Testament, too. And then where will all of us be? Rome, Paris, Germany, and so many more. History teaches us that the road from tremendous success to the bottom of the cistern of the barren can be traveled in a very short period of time. The sound of distant drums you cannot yet here is beginning on November 1st unless something is done. The deliberate killing of things, when they deal with humans or the human condition, is called murder. Intended murder or even negligent murder falls under that definition. Murder can also be of a culture or certain adjustments to existing things to are detrimental to institutions or even landmarks or other examples of things that embody the spirit of the culture.
The murder of the White House would be an appropriate description of the deliberate destruction of the ‘peoples’ part of the structure, now destroyed to be replaced by a great behemoth of a dance hall to be designed and built of Hitleresque architecture. The murderer of that beloved home structure cannot be termed to be a murderer because the rest of his actions lately have turned to the all-out murder of citizens of other countries to be deemed drug runners of fentanyl even though those boating citizens were in craft that would need twenty refills to reach U.S. shores from Venezuela and the suspected fentanyl is not made in that country. The citizens there still make cocaine, which might have been aboard those boats, but the explosives used to blast them to hell are so huge there’s nothing left to investigate. Oh, the body parts are floating into that country’s shore. If you haven’t figured it out yet, this leader is set on, by his own words, to do the same thing to other U.S. terrorists, which he’s described the same way he describes how it’s okay to kill those boaters without any due process. He calls the terrorists at home democrats. Yes, depending upon your polarized political view today, he could well be discussing your murder. Due process in the Constitution is all about figuring out what really happened when there’s a crime of magnitude.
That’s gone for this leader. The leader said he just had the most beautiful MRI the doctors have ever seen. It makes one wonder what organ the machine was concentrated on. A vital clue might be the leader’s conviction for sexual assault of women and his admitted abusive treatment and opinion of them.
