LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Dear Big Boy:

Dear, you are 19 today and have been a very nice child to raise and to have now.  Keep on being nice and don’t do anything that would spoil my wonderful thoughts and memories of you.  Your dad would certainly have been proud of you.  All I ask is for you to always remember what a wonderful person he was and try to walk in his footsteps. If you do that you will, and can, never go wrong. Having you has helped me over a bad time. I know a boy needs his father at all ages, but you were big enough and strong enough in your body and mind to bridge the gap yourself and, at the same time, help me to overcome difficulties.  I really do thank God for you.  Today was just the kind of day when you were born.  Such a pretty big baby.  Nine pounds, sucking a fist when I first saw you.  Loved you from that moment on…to eternity.    Hope you have a happy life and reverse the numbers of today into 91. –

All of my love, and that is a lot because I feel so much for you. Mother

Editor:  This letter was written to Williams Bay architect Tom Kincaid by his mother back in 1949.  Tom just turned 91. He wanted to let some of those who also love him know that he made it, and that he had one heck of a great mother.
