LITTLE GEMS

Easter Sunday, April 17th.
Easter is one of the most important and principal holidays of Christianity and marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Christian families traditionally gather early in the morning dressed in spring fashion and attend church services together, celebrating Jesus’s demonstrated triumph over death. The day, more often than not, includes a wonderful Easter brunch or dinner and, of course, Easter would not be complete without a visit from the magical Easter Bunny and the Egg Hunt he provides.

If you are wondering what a bunny and eggs have to do with this Christian holiday here’s the answer: Rabbits are known to be prolific procreators and a symbol of new life and eggs are a symbol of the fertility of birds both being symbolic of spring and the new life and growth it brings. In other words, there is no reference to Jesus or God in the bunny’s continued existence and popularity at this time of year.

Easter Weekend is full of Spring fun. Easter weekend is full of great family time, worship, and gratitude. Easter Weekend would not be complete without a traditional egg hunt. The Lake Geneva Jaycees are happy to host in-person once again its annual Easter Egg Hunt in Seminary Park. Saturday, April 16th at 3:30 p.m. the hunt will begin. Thousands of pre-filled plastic eggs will be ready for the kids to gather. The Easter Bunny will be there for visits and photos with the kids, and McGruff the crime dog, will be there for the fun. There is also a free raffle for Easter Baskets after the hunt.

Many other communities will be having egg hunts. The Town of Lyons Easter Egg Hunt, and all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, is this Saturday from 8 a.m. through 12 p.m., at the Lyons Fire Department on Hospital Road. The cost for adults is $8.00, seniors $7.00, children $4.00, and kids under three are free.

Lake Como’s Annual Children’s Easter Egg Hunt is at 10 a.m. sharp at the Lake Como Clubhouse, and the Easter Bunny will be there for the fun.

Fontana’s Easter Egg Hunt is Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at the Duck Pond Recreation Park, The Easter Bunny will be visiting, arriving on a fire truck.

Easter Weekend is a wonderful time and a great time to celebrate spring, as well as the Christian holiday in one is of that religious persuasion.
