LITTLE GEMS

The development at Geneva Square, including commercial space of two units, was approved around this time last year.
The process is taking some time, but the light at the end of the tunnel is in sight. The developers who currently own the Geneva Square property had extra space for a little more development and took advantage of it. The developers are out of Evanston, Illinois, but spend time at the property to keep up with regular maintenance and look for ways to improve the aesthetics for the locals. The development that most have noticed by now is going to be home to the Summer Moon Coffee Shop and a Jersey Mike’s sub shop.

The development has one unit still not rented. The developers believe the additional units will enhance what is already there and will add convenience to the patrons of the other businesses on the property. If all goes well, the new businesses will be ready to open this summer sometime, and Lake Geneva will have another sandwich and coffee shop to enjoy.

Coming Traffic Nightmare at Main and Broad.
The city refuses to do anything about how badly the timing on its intersection lights has gotten and how unautomated its supposedly frightfully automatic system has become.  But the nightmare is yet to come, but it will this summer at the one main intersection. That light needs to be shorter for everyone, and it needs detection adjustment so that left turners are not left sitting there with no arrow or with everyone not turning, but having to wait while the arrow’s function is being used, but with no turners waiting.

Right now, since crowds have not grown into what they are going to become, the situation is tolerable.  Vexing but tolerable.  The crowds this summer and traffic are likely to build to never-before-seen sizes, even larger than during COVID, given that another part of the tariffs will probably be people not traveling as far for a vacation or a break as they did before. Chicago will be coming for a visit and somebody with a plyer, wrench or a baseball bat needs to fix that damned signal.
