Moonlight Movie on the Beach tonight! This is the last movie on the beach for this summer and some say it will be the best. Princess Bride is the movie and The Geneva Shore Report is sponsoring it. Come join us, and the community, for a delightful night under the stars and an awesome movie.
The evening of the 7th of August is the final opportunity for the community to voice its opinions regarding the ten-year comprehensive plan update for Lake Geneva.
This will be the second community vision workshop. It will be held at 6 p.m. in the police training room at City Hall. Last week two Neighborhood Workshops took place and brought residents together to engage in the process of updating the ten-year Lake Geneva Comprehensive Plan. Mayor Tom Hartz attended the meetings, and so did representatives from Vandewalle and Associates. The workshops were held at Badger High School in the cafeteria. The group of people that showed up at these meetings was broken into smaller groups and shared visions, ideas, and issues it believes Lake Geneva should consider. Each group then shared its top issues with the other groups and a list of the top issues was made representing the group as a whole. A lot of great ideas and visions were shared, but the one item that everyone seemed to agree upon was preserving the natural areas of the Hillmoor property, while also improving and maintaining existing parks. This includes creating more parks and providing those that already exist with better access, bike, and walking paths. All the information gathered will go to Vandewalle and city officials, and will be considered when the ten-year update of the comprehensive plan is finalized. What makes the cut is up to them.
Venetian Fest is one week away!
In less than a week, Wrigley Drive will be closed to through traffic. Flat Iron Park and Seminary Park will be filled with carnival vendors and rides, Library Park will have artists and craft vendors galore. The Venetian Festival is a great crowd-pleaser, but not all the downtown businesses agree, or at least many shop owners say that their bottom lines don’t agree.
However, Maxwell Street Days is the downtown businesses time to shine. Starting Friday, August 23rd, through Sunday, August 25th, you can shop the streets for some of the best deals of the year.
Saturday June Band.
This Thursday, August 8 is the last week for the concerts in the park. This is a free family-friendly event that offers two hours of wonderful music in the relaxing outdoors of Flat Iron Park. The ‘Saturday June Band’ will be performing, so grab a blanket, some lawn chairs, and the family for an evening of fun.
