LITTLE GEMS
Luis’s Pizza, located at the intersection where Linton, South Lake Shore Drive and Hillside come together in Town of Linn.
Ever so subtly and quietly, this tiny takeout pizza and burger joint has expanded. Once totally contained, and after Louis, the former owner died, and Luis took over (amazing coincidence of names) outdoor eating was introduced on a small pad right at the corner of the intersection. Alcohol was sold with a package store license, the beverages not to be consumed on property. Now, things have changed. The tiny shop is being expanded out back, with indoor eating and a basement for storage being added. A full blown and now unrestricted liquor license will allow the new Luis’s to have a bar. There’s little talk, while construction goes on, about what effect this new Luis’s is likely to have on the ambiance and value of the very expensive country club homes located just across the street. A lot of that, at least in the short term, will be based upon the goodwill of Luis himself. He’s a decent and nice man, but he won’t own the place forever, either. Ominous development is about the only phrase that applies to this expanded venture.
The Lake Geneva Library will be closed from five p.m., on the 22nd to nine a.m., on the 27th of December.
What the hell is that all about? That means that the whole Christmas weekend, with days tacked on to either end, are kaput for all the people who might be off for some or all of the holiday and want to use the library’s many products and attributes. Also, this coming weekend has been predicted to be below zero in temperature during the days and nights of almost all of that period. The library is a warming center for people who might be caught outside inadvertently and not properly dressed and for those whose residences may lose heat. What the hell kind of holiday schedule is this, other than a pretty lousy one for the public?
