LITTLE GEMS
Santa Claus is coming to town.
Lake Geneva is always a favorite spot for Santa to visit and this year is no different.
This year he will be in town every Thursday in December from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This Thursday, December 7th, Santa will be at the Geneva Lakes Art Foundation Gallery 223 at 223 Broad Street. While you are at the Gallery enjoy the wonderful Winter Art Exhibit. Thursday,
December 14th, he will be at the Lake Geneva Public Library. After visiting Santa feel free to browse the library for a good book to read over the holiday season.
Thursday, December 21st Magpie’s Pen & Den at 642 Main Street is Santa’s last Thursday visit so make it a great one with a bite to eat and some hot cocoa. Make sure to bring your list for Santa. Don’t forget the neat opportunity for some great holiday photos. Each visit will be unique, a magical offering of treats, crafts, and cocoa.
The rumor mill begins to beat shake and vibrate away, as elections for mayor and alderpersons move ever closer.
Sarah Hill is back, the former alderperson now seeking her old seat back. Mary Joe Fesenmaier will be after continuing the outstanding track record as a current and former alderperson. Pam Wilkerson is also going in against Joani the Diner, which ought to be interesting, as the very active activist and a wise woman named Sheri Ames will be running in that same alderperson race.
And then there’s the mayor’s position, currently held by a woman whom we only refer to as Mayor Mayor (borrowed loosely from the Catch-22 book and movies). She’s rumored to be seeking another term, no matter how good she did early in office and how awful she’s done as she comes to the end of that term. Listening closely on the other side of locked doors at the municipal building, the GSR investigative staff has heard comments about Jim Flame running for Mayor Mayor’s job. He was the city inspector under Fred for a few years, and also a big supporter of short-term rentals.
Then there’s Todd Krause, who narrowly lost to Mayor Mayor in the last election for that position. At least three people in the race would require a primary and then another election for a finalist. Apparently, not by his statement, Tom Hartz will not be running, and that’s a shame. What a huge body of life experience and education in that man’s head. Speedo, of the Harborside Grill, has also indicated that he’s not running either. These rumors are just that, as none of the applicants have to reveal the required number of recommending voter signatures until early January. If all these rumors turn into applied behavior, then this coming election will have more people running for elective offices in more than twenty years.
