LITTLE GEMS

US National Snow Sculpting Winners.
Lake Geneva was the place to be this past weekend. The 27th Annual Winterfest and US Snow Sculpting Championship was a huge success. The number of people who came to town was impressive and challenging. Traffic was steady and thick. Vehicles were at a standstill most of the weekend and the crowds walking and crossing the streets were continuous throughout the event. The highlight of Winterfest was and remains as the fifteen artfully crafted snow sculptures.

The teams did not disappoint this year, as they happily entertained the crowds with smiles, conversation, and fun all while they whittled away at the looming blocks of snow in front of them and endured the weather, which was not too bad for Southern Wisconsin in February. The downtown was just as intriguing to visitors as the sidewalks proudly displayed almost forty different ice sculptures sponsored by downtown businesses and crafted by the artists of Art Below Zero. The snow and ice sculptures are still intact and will be available for all to enjoy as long as the winter weather permits.

The winners of the US National Snow Sculpting Championship:
First Place went to Wisconsin’s “Sculptura Borealis” with its sculpture titled “Deeper Connections”  Second Place went to Florida’s “Frozen Less Latitude, More Attitude,” with its sculpture titled “Cherry Blossom Beauty,”
