LITTLE GEMS

City officials continue with efforts to make Edwards Boulevard (STH 120) and Townline Road intersection safer.
This intersection is a dangerous area and the location of many accidents. The intersection a little further south at STH 120 and Bloomfield Road was just as dangerous and now has a traffic signal. This didn’t come easy but with the diligence of city officials, city staff, the administration of Badger Middle and High School, parents of students, and many citizens that intersection is much safer. That is the plan for the Townline Road and Edwards Boulevard intersection. Right now, the study warrants a traffic signal, the only issue now is financials.

The city is looking for ways to help cover the cost as sharing the cost with the state does not seem to be an option. The state is recommending grants be applied for and the time to do that is now. This grant is not a guarantee and may need to be applied for again. This is not a quick process, either way, the ball is rolling, and the majority of people would like to see the job done and safer roadways for all.

At what point is a traffic signal going to be put in for the Grand Geneva Resort entrance off Highway 50?
Especially during summer months but almost always at other daylight times that turn is hazardous.  The vehicles coming east on Highway 50 have a speed limit of fifty miles per hour but, in truth, the majority are really traveling at sixty or a bit more. Those turning north to get into Grand Geneva are at risk because it is very difficult to judge the speed of those vehicles coming over the rise and down into Lake Geneva.

Like the signal that everyone agrees needs to be installed at Townline and Edwards (Highway 120 or the ‘cut off’ as it’s called) there needs to be one for the entrance to the Grand Geneva and the Grand Geneva Resort ought to have plenty of skin in the game on that one.  That wonderful place gets to use the name of Lake Geneva even though it is Lyons and pays its taxes there and not to Lake Geneva, not to mention that it gets its water and sewer from Lake Geneva as well.
