LITTLE GEMS
The family favorite called the Fourth of July Children’s Parade is back in Lake Geneva.
This very fun parade is all about red, white, and blue. The kids along with their parents will be dressed in their patriotic colors. There is no registration needed, just show up and get ready to march or ride in this patriotic fun parade. Many will decorate wagons, bikes, scooters, and other modes of transportation of course it will all be decorated and themed for the Fourth of July.
The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Sage Street at Eastview School and travels west on Dodge Street, north on Center Street, and west on Henry Street. The parade ends at the American Legion Hall. The event concludes with its traditional July Fourth ceremony. This is a great way to participate in the holiday and encourage kids to be a part of it. This day is all about the red, white, and blue, and love for the great USA.
No, the City of Lake Geneva Department of Public Works is not officially picking up the materials stacked in front of Lake Geneva homes.
Not officially, anyway. Tom Earle, the guy running public works, is adamant about the fact that the city is only required to do a few well-designated brush pickups a year. A bad storm coming along does not force the city to change those rules. Tom has been only too happy to personally let citizens calling in know this, and those citizens are not happy with Tom. The department needs to have someone else handle those calls. There is no good thing to be accomplished by making citizens call in angry.
Todd Krause, when approached about this problem, met with Tom and they came to a rough informal agreement. The city trucks, when passing a packaged mass of sticks, cut wood, and brush will stop and pick up piles in front of Lake Geneva homes if they see them. The cities thanks to Todd Krause once more, but of course that depends upon how the city workers are instructed in this informal policy by Tom Earle and also having trucks out circulating around the neighborhoods.
