LITTLE GEMS

Father’s Day is this Sunday, June 15, 2025.
Many will celebrate dad with some quality family time, activities he enjoys, and a good old-fashioned backyard cookout. Father’s Day is the perfect time to fire up the grill and treat dad to a mouth-watering feast of burgers, ribs, steaks, BBQ, and more. Some will want to skip the work and opt for something a bit fancier. Grand Geneva has some great options all weekend long that dad is sure to love. To start Dad’s weekend Friday, June 13th, Grand Geneva has a perfect night out for Dad, starting with an ultimate steak dinner at the Grand Pavilion and the Gentleman’s Experience at Sio & Smoke. On Saturday, June 14th, the Grand Pavilion will have a fabulous BBQ on the menu. To wrap up Father’s Day weekend, the Geneva Chophouse will have Sunday Brunch. However, everyone celebrates, the focus on creating meaningful memories and expressing appreciation for all fathers is a big deal indeed.

Hebron, that nearby watering hole.
The community is in recovery, having suffered through a period of bad leadership that was almost too awful to contemplate, but now, with a great new mayor, terrific clerk and brilliant new Chief of Police (temporary, so here’s hoping the board selected to select the permanent one does the right thing), the makeup of the quiet little town that could (survive) is about to change for the better. The barbershop guy, truculent and unlicensed to cut hair since 1991 but still cutting away (yes, you read that right), is about to meet the town’s new leadership and inspector of such things.  The owner of the Trump store, with the flags flying on the main intersection empty lot, has moderated his approach and proves to be an interestingly nice guy.  The village is leaning a bit toward the liberal these days but not him…and that’s for damn sure his right, as well the right of many of his patrons and friends.  What happens on that plot of land he owns, well, quite possibly the owner will decide that he might enjoy the friendship of more than just a few people living in and out of the village. Go to Hebron and have one of the world’s best burgers at the Dari.  Buy a cardboard cutout from John of the president and either hug it regularly or throw darts at it.
