LITTLE GEMS
Thursday evening June 20th the Linn Police Department received a call for a possible drowning.
The caller reported seeing someone swimming past a pier and then no longer saw him. The Linn Police Department along with law enforcement, fire, and EMS responded to the possible drowning near Pier 567 on the south shore of Geneva Lake. The officers searched the area, and nothing was found. A more detailed underwater sonar search resumed on Friday morning and nothing was found. With nothing found that would confirm a drowning and no one reported missing, the search was called off at 10;30 a.m. Friday morning June 21st.
Many different departments assisted the Town of Linn. Lake Geneva and Town of Linn Fire and EMS, Fontana Fire and EMS, Water Safety Patrol, Geneva Lake Police Department, Wisconsin DNR, the City of Lake Geneva Police Department, Walworth County Sheriff’s Office, and Fontana Police Department all helped in the search. The municipalities near the lake and those near it all work together flawlessly and provide great reassurance to the communities.
Thank you is not enough for all that they all do. With the summer season in full swing and the weather being as warm as it has been this early in the season, it is always a good thing to look out for others. If you are heading to the lake for a swim, it’s good to have someone with you or let someone know where you are going to be and if you happen to see something worrisome it’s always good to call for help.
Better safe than sorry.
