LITTLE GEMS
Hillmoor and the Ad Hoc committee from where and who and when.
The list of members is to follow, the ‘brown ribbon list’ of deciders on what’s to be done with the Hillmoor property. Debra Beagle, David Quickel, Cherie Borowicz, Skip Atwell, Adam St. Marie, Celine Lillie, Cynthia Feuridi, Karen Yancey, Frank Guske, Paula Porbucan, Norina Smyth, Michael Krajovic, Laura Weed, Henry Sibbing, David Curry, and Ron Geman. What does this recommending committee have to offer in the way of talent? An archeologist, a developer, a YMCA supporter, another developer, a shop owner, a former shop owner, a ‘gad about town,’ a return to a golf course supporter, a resale pro, and so much more. Almost all the listed members of this committee own homes in and around Lake Geneva or rent in the area. The city council will make all final decisions about what is to be done with the Hillmoor property, although that body will be limited by the conditions set forth in the deed restrictions, as well as current zoning (unless the alderperson’s get rid of the restrictions or change the zoning).
The chairperson of the Piers and Harbor committee happens to live in the Towers.
The Towers is the tall building just across from Speedos Harborside Grill, located where Wrigley and Broad Street come together. The chairperson is making decisions about the ‘lagoon,’ which is the water that passes from the north end of Geneva Lake, goes past or over a small dam and then becomes the White River. It turns out that there’s a discussion going on about cost sharing when it comes to paying for things like the dredging of the small passage. The Tower owns half of one side of the land while the city owns the other half across the water. The chairman’s husband sits on theTowers board of directors. The assignment of costs for repair needs to be very closely looked at and the chairperson should remove herself, called recusing, from any decisions made about that issue, not to
Inspiration Ministries…and the Inspiration coffee shop on Main Street.
This wonderful Christian-based operation was the assembly and reception point for the recent Miss America contestants and the kind of work they did to make that celebration one to remember for everyone who came by was inspirational. They worked non-stop, preparing, serving, and then cleaning up after a thousand people had attended. Little is ever mentioned of a very few assorted businesses that step up and in to make life better and brighter for the community. Inspiration coffee is inexpensive, hot, and served by young people and old who simply charm the many patrons who know about the place. This warm environment is provided to the public, probably as a loss leader for the wonderfully funded and operational ministry itself, and most everyone around the lake has little or no clue. A great thank you, and a sincere God Bless You goes out from the staff of the Geneva Shore Report who attended, and we are sure, out from the majority of citizens and residents who agree.
Person of the Week

The staff at Sammy’s in Walworth is just as wonderful as their food.
