LITTLE GEMS
Alderperson Hedlund begins training to be a believer in the Divine Right of Kings.
Just who does this guy think he is? Oh, he’s been an alderman in Lake Geneva for some time, and even rose up to be the president of the council not too long ago. But, come on. Lake Geneva is a little bitty city, when you consider cities across the span of the country. How is it that this man can go out and run for his position once again by placing his campaign signs all over the place downtown on city property? Like he doesn’t know better? Like nobody else cares, like the police department and other people running for office who are prohibited from so placing their signs, or at least without the power that Mr. Hedlund must have.
It’s not his power that’s important here, it’s the hubris of the man. Hubris is defined as excessive pride, by the way. Mr. Hedlund was the architect behind the recent parking increase, by the way, so he should be feeling some excessive pride this very day, not to mention getting himself ready for some coming pain when the sting of those $50 dollar tickets start being handed out to local voters. Hedlund needs votes to win in April.
Think about that if you are a local voter in Lake Geneva. Some people think that someone else is putting up Hedlund’s signs, and that he doesn’t really campaign. That may not be all fiction, although the Geneva Shore reporting staff kinda thinks it’s all fiction. The candidate for office is responsible for where signs are placed, as well as the putting up of them and the taking down of them after the election is over. Mr. Hedlund drives around the town all the time and there’s just no chance he hasn’t heard of the violation he’s committing or allowing it to be committed on his behalf.
