“Billy” Joel sits revealed, but without the entertainment credentials nor the talent.
Lake Geneva city alderperson Joel Holland (acting much like the many-paddled instruments of old called windmills in Holland, blowing past a lot of air to grind up all kinds of stuff below) made his first sally into the minefield of the new council order by putting forth his recommendation for a committee seat member. Joel, despite his orange hairdo, isn’t much of a populist leader. He ran smack into the side of city attorney Dan Draper when he attempted to nominate Joanie the Diner to be a member of the short-term rental committee. That motion got seconded by none other than Mayor Mayor holdover Sheri Straube, just before Draper weighed in to inform both uniformed council members that they lacked the power to recommend or appoint anyone to any city committee position.
That’s strictly the province of the sitting mayor, and that would be Todd Krause. Down the subterranean ‘silent running’ duo went, to await, plotting feverishly, another day when maybe Draper might not be around. It’s not very likely that Todd will recommend Joanie the Diner to any city position in the near or distant future because Lake Geneva does not have a dog catcher.
It’s rumored that there is a new coffee shop coming to town.
ES Brews located in Pell Lake has stated that they will be closing their doors and they have found someone to partner with them right here in Lake Geneva that believes in their dreams. ES Brews has stated that they will be partnering with The Porch located at 832 Geneva Street and will be offering specialty coffee, wholesome bites, wine, and brews. According to their website, they offer a variety of hot, iced, and blended coffees and teas. Their small bites include muffins, donuts, and breakfast burritos. The GSR reached out to Brick and Mortar for confirmation on this partnership, but they neither confirmed nor denied anything, although people at the establishment of Brick and Mortar on Cook did confirm that a coffee shop would be coming, but that was it.
