LITTLE GEMS
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas…
The wonderful breaks in winter are about to begin. Fat turkey dinner with family Thanksgiving is almost upon us. Get over to Sentry Foods in Walworth and get ahold of Butterball turkey for .99 a pound. You have to buy 25 bucks worth of other stuff, but you save a ton and you got to make the dressing, potato dish and the other stuff that makes the holiday get together wonderful. Christmas follows not too long after, as everyone knows.
Snow is on the way so maybe this year’s Christmas will, indeed, be white. The movies to be watched again? White Christmas, Holiday Inn, Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation, and Miracle on 34th Street. In the sky above and foundations below, is always the enduring and revealing It’s a Wonderful Life with Jimmie Stewart.
Lake Geneva’s Christmas tree will not be decorated in the Brunk pavilion this year (thanks to Demetri Anagnos of Popeyes and the rest of the BID board). The half a tree thing is finally over (you could only see the bottom half of the tree when driving by). This year’s tree will be in Flat Iron Park, although it really should be the maturing tree right at the intersection of Wrigley and Broad across from Speedo’s restaurant. But half a triumph is better than none, as the political parties in the recent election results are discovering.
The median income paid across the country for city clerks in small communities runs from $34,000 to $57,000.
Why is Lake Geneva’s city clerk now paid upwards of $90,000 plus a full benefit package? What kind of financial nonsense is this city involved with. The city comptroller also skyrocketed in income, as did the director of public works.
Inflation is running at eight percent or less, not forty percent! The results of having hired this survey group, in order to pay Lake Geneva staff fairly, are coming in…in spades. Who led this phony tortured survey group? A modern version of Rasputin?
Person of the Week

Rhonda, the brilliantly wonderful woman at Burger King in Lake Geneva, has found a liking in serving her community. She’s just terrific.
