LITTLE GEMS
Free parking starts soon, which also means winter parking regulations also begin.
From November 15th through January 31st, it costs nothing to park in Lake Geneva. Locals look forward to this time as the city slows down a bit and the people who call this area home get to enjoy themselves without paying for parking. This also means winter parking regulations begin. From November 15th through March 31st vehicles may not park on any city street between 2 a.m. through 6 a.m. When the snow decides to fall there is no street parking until the snow is removed, violators of these rules may be ticketed. This is the time of year that the city starts focusing on the process and procedures of snow removal.
The Lake Geneva Public Works Department works hard to answer questions and accommodate everyone’s snow removal needs. It is impossible to make everyone happy. An updated city snow and ice control policy is available on the city website, the DPW office, and the city clerk’s office. Have patience with the city crew as the overall goal is to plow all roadways in a timely matter. However, snowstorms do not always happen at convenient times. The DPW strives to have all snow cleared from roadways, alleys, and curbs within twelve hours after the snow has stopped. Substantial snow and the duration of the storm could extend this timeline.
