Little Gems

The Abbey Marina.
Over in Fontana they’re redoing everything in the waters surrounding the actual resort itself. All 407 piers are being refurbished, the walls that line the harbor are being replaced, and new decking is going in everywhere. The place is going to sparkle at night with small lights emplaced inside all the walkways and piers. The Abbey is upgrading to a higher number of stars, as new management takes over and begins to finance making the resort into a higher end destination, instead of a neat, old (but somewhat rundown) hotel by the water. The Harbor House Restaurant is the force behind this complete makeover of the marina, but the entire resort, and everything around it, is going to enjoy the great benefits.

Marina Rebuild The Abbey Geneva Lake

The new marina will be part of the well planned design by The Abbey to bring Fontana a bit closer to being in this millennium

Doctor Scary’s Haunted House.
This is the place they’ve been working on all year in order to provide the public with the best haunted house ever found in Walworth County, and maybe even the state. They finally got all their permits, and they are going to open on Friday the 20th of October. It’s going to cost twenty bucks a person if you are an early bird (7:30 to 8:00 p.m.), with two dollars off if you bring two non-perishable food items for the Food Pantry. The regular price is twenty-five dollars, but if you want to go to the front of the line you can pay ten bucks more to do so, which seems weird, but it is Halloween. This haunted house isn’t one of those carnival events made for kids to go through in five minutes. This is an adult experience and should be treated as such. There is no children’s price for that reason. The location is right across from the Dancing Horses facility on Highway 50, just west of Lake Geneva on the way to Delavan.

Halloween Decorations Lake Geneva

Strangely decorated mannequins for Halloween… Or some strange tribal ceremony?

South Lake Shore Drive Erosion

Erosion problem at BigFoot Beach, again.
The wind-blown water is encroaching on South Lake Shore Drive, as you motor along that wonderfully beautiful stretch of road. The only bit of road where you can look out and take in the full measure of Geneva Lake. Every year the wind blows in from the west and begins to erode the sand and rock barriers set up to stop just such action. It works for a while, and the big rocks work best. But this year they left the end of the crosswalk unprotected and the water began to do its work. The road is Town of Linn property, so they better get on it before winter sets in.
