Little Gems

Hope Now.
What is it?  It’s a place you go at this time of the year to sponsor a family for Christmas. Families in need make out wish lists for Christmas presents, and “sponsoring” family chooses what they will get for them. Then they wrap the gifts and Christmas is much improved for the family receiving these neat presents.  And the kids of those families never ever forget!  Mary Ellen Wright is the head of Hope Now and she can be reached at (262) 723-4659.  That number rings at the Elkhorn High School and you ask for Mary.  She will guide you through the process.  Christmas crosses all religious and political lines if you think about the meaning of the meaning of it.  Hope Now, Inc. is a Facebook page you can get through to by entering that name.  This is a wonderful gifting idea and the implication rewards those who live right close by, but you may never know, in our local communities.

The new events coordinator hired by the City of Lake Geneva.
This new EC dominant force, to bring business to Lake Geneva, is named Stephanie Kopsey. SK is all about bringing in new businesses.  She’s part-time for thirty-two thousand dollars a year…so don’t say the city pays so badly.  Her first “business” under consideration is an ice cream museum.  We kid you not!  SK has a wedding plan services, Stephanie Lynn LLC, Lake Geneva Wedding Planning.  Anyway, SK will be interviewed to see how the ice cream in the museum is preserved enough to still be ice cream when viewed by the thousands of spectators and participants who would be likely to show up for such an interesting business.  Do people get to sample?  How does that work?  Do Ben and Jerry show up for the opening?  Who says the City of Lake Geneva does not have a sense of humor?

Mills Fleet Farm in Delavan, on the old dog track property, had a soft opening on Tuesday, October 16th. If you were lucky enough to get an invitation you were able to enjoy the great new store with a little less of a crowd than the hordes that showed up on Saturday, October 20th for the official Grand Opening. Both the events were a big deal, with great sales, raffles, giveaways, fancy appetizers and beverages, a DJ. This was more like a party than a store opening. The Friends and Family night, and Grand Opening were record-breaking for Fleet Farm.

The newest multi-unit commercial built on the corner of Edwards Boulevard and Highway 50.
It’s complete and the three new businesses are working on getting stores ready to open. By the end of the end of this week, Game Stop will be open. Aspen Dental will follow and open by the end of next week. As far as MOD Pizza goes well that’s a good question they still have to get the interior concrete floor poured before any work can continue.
