LITTLE GEMS

Never, not now, not then, not ever…not never.
Do not give out your username and password to anybody, except your spouse or your kids if need be.  If you die your bank or other financial entity will respond with plenty of relevant information to a certificate of death and other qualifying survivor information necessities.  Do not give out your username and password to Experian, for example, so you can use your rent payment timeliness to raise your credit score.

Experian, like other credit agencies, is hacked on a regular basis.  Not from the outside, which is nearly impossible, but by employees selling the data!  Never give the information to insurance companies of any kind.  Never give the data to any operation that requests it, as the ethical ones won’t bother.  And don’t go thinking that just because a large corporation in business for a long time is necessarily ethical.  The largest fines ever levied by the SEC and other federal agencies, have been levied against some of the largest and most ‘respected’ companies in the world.

Don’t reveal your bank data to anyone, ever, and you won’t be sorry.  Of those who may ask, you may feel perfectly justified in smiling a wiry smile and shaking your head.  They ought to know better, but they don’t because most people are not as well informed as you are now.

Honky Tonk in Lake Geneva this weekend.
The downtown will be transformed into a mini-Nashville for the event. Attend and dress out in the best western outfit you may have hidden away in the basement.  Cowboy hats and boots, and tight riding pants will be all over the place.  Wear a costume and meander around downtown before heading up to the main event.

This weekend, September 16th through 18th, Seminary Park will be the place to be for some honky-tonk fun, drinking some cold brews, and having some great times while country music is piped and played everywhere. Pick up tickets ahead of time at the website www.streetsoflakegeneva.com.

Another pedestrian was struck by a car in Lake Geneva.
Thursday, September 8th, during the morning rush to school, a female was struck by a car.  Thankfully, the woman remained conscious and talking right after the accident. This is not the first pedestrian to be hit by a car in the city this summer, and as much as we no one wants it to be true, it most likely it won’t be the last such pedestrian/vehicle encounter.

Lake Geneva EMT’s responded to the incident at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Thursday morning at the Lake Geneva Middle School. The victim was a young female who is expected to be okay, but something needs to change to prevent more incidents of this nature. Safety should be top priority for students coming and going from school and any other pedestrian walking in and around the city.

The recent addition of the traffic signal on Bloomfield Road and 120 was installed for the safety of drivers and pedestrians alike, most of whom are students, family members of students, or staff from the nearby schools. Drivers need to slow down around the school. The start and end of the school day is very busy near any school and speeding shouldn’t ever occur in those nearby places during those times.

Too much is at stake and getting kids dropped off in time or getting to work on time should not be a reason to take the risk and speed. Let’s have a safe and productive school year and look out for one another.
