The first day of Fall is only days away.
Tuesday, September 22, 2026, 7:05 p.m. CDT,  Fall (the Autumnal Equinox) officially arrives, marking the moment the sun sits directly above the equator. Summer of 2026 in the Lake Geneva area featured typical warm averages with some notable heat waves, most noticeable in late June and early July. The area also experienced severe local storms that really packed a punch, making the 2026 summer season one many will remember in detail for years to come.

While fall 2026 is expected to have above-average temperatures, the season will kick off with a crisp, refreshing drop in temperatures. Fall is a favorite for many, and Lake Geneva is anticipating some big fall energy. So many events are centered around the season with apples, pumpkins, colors, the start of the holidays, and Lake Geneva is a great place to enjoy it all.

The inaugural Lake Geneva Humanities Festival is taking place from September 24–27, 2026 under the theme “Where Ideas Meet the Water.”
The Lake Geneva Humanities Festival’s (LGHF) mission is to connect neighbors, spark meaningful conversation, further education, nurture curiosity, and support a vibrant community through the power of the humanities. This free four-day event brings literature, history, music, and architecture to three iconic venues in downtown Lake Geneva. Events will be held at the library, Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion, and the Riviera Ballroom.

• Thursday is Richard Munson, Author of Ingenious: A Biography of Benjamin Franklin, Scientist, exploring the fascinating connection between Franklin the scientist, inventor, and nation-builder.
• Friday is County Highway, Writers and editors from the acclaimed American newspaper celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary and 250 Great American Things.
• Saturday is Louisa Waycott with Tom Stanfield, an evening celebrating the Great American Songbook, featuring timeless American standards performed by mezzo-soprano Louisa Waycott with Lake Geneva favorite Tom Stanfield.
• Sunday is Robert Sharoff with William Zbaren & Tim Samuelson: Discover the story, architecture, and history behind Chicago’s iconic Wrigley Building.
