LITTLE GEMS
The City of Lake Geneva Police Department commented to the city council about short-term rentals.
Lake Geneva is a popular destination, and short-term rentals have become a regular, although problematic, part of the community. These rentals are legal and must be properly registered and permitted through the City, with rules in place to ensure safety and respect for everyone. It is understood that short-term rentals can sometimes raise concerns, and the police and council are here to help with real, ordinance-related issues, like excessive noise, illegal parking, or disturbances. When it comes to parking, that includes vehicles blocking sidewalks or parking in yards, both of which are not allowed. If something feels off, residents should not hesitate to reach out, as the police are happy to look into it. At the same time, it’s important to remember that simply not liking short-term rentals isn’t a reason for enforcement action. They’re allowed by city ordinance, and the city is committed to striking a balance that works for both residents and visitors.
