LIVING HERE

The tourism committee met last week and was filled with great updates.
The Riviera has been rocking and rolling since renovations have been finished. In 2021, there have been sixty events held at the Riviera, with more coming by year’s end. Next year already has fifty-seven events booked, which could bring make it a record-breaking year for the Riviera. Stephanie Copsey, the wonderful lady behind showcasing the Riviera, has been very busy working to promote the newly updated Riviera Ballroom, including a redesign of the website.

This includes a virtual tour of the Riviera and specific links for each hotel in Lake Geneva, prompting visitors to stay, dine and shop locally. For a while, the Regional News was being used to promote and advertise the Riviera as part of the marketing plan for the tourism committee. They ran ads on their website and produced reports for the tourism committee, with updates on the interaction of the ads with traffic from their site.

Recently the committee has, however, switched to hiring a media company out of Chicago that appears to know the Lake Geneva market and what visitors are looking for on a getaway. After the New Year the committee will look at the results and compare the two companies to decide which will better market Lake Geneva and bring in the tourists to enjoy what the area has to offer. It was also mentioned that the city was previously paying the sales tax for events being held prior to the renovations which were questioned by committee members as to why the city would pay the taxes and lose that revenue? Post renovations, it is included in the signed contract that the sales tax must be paid by whoever is renting the ballroom, which is significantly increasing revenue for the city. Stephanie’s hard work has paid off and the future of the Riviera is successful and bright.
