The Lake Geneva City Council meeting on January 26th discussed and voted to approve the Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Planning (CORP).
The CORP RFP was finalized. The hiring of a consultant company would take on the daunting task of integrating the parks and lakefront. With Lake Geneva being such a popular destination, the lakefront and parks need to be the best they can be. With the future of the parks and lakefront looking at some big changes, and an RFP going out and the hiring of a professional team, the city is also looking at hiring a new harbor master.

The Harbor Master is a lakefront manager position and reports to the Parks Director. This position is vital in keeping all the operational aspects of the lakefront running smoothly and retaining its inviting charm. The city is looking for a professional with experience and an education that relates to the position. Applicants should apply by February 13th with a resume, cover letter, and contact information for three work-related references to David Winger, Parks Director. More information on the position can be found on the City of Lake Geneva’s website.

Campaigning for the Spring Election on April 7, 2026, is underway.
Campaign sign guidelines always seem to be an issue, and details are not always clear to all concerned. Campaign signs can be placed starting on December 1st through election day. Signs are to be placed on private property only, and all signs are to be removed within ten days of the election. In past elections campaign signs have caused some tension between candidates and residents.

The main candidate for re-election is Mayor Todd Krause.  His competition is a council member who is going to selfishly continue to campaign to be re-elected to his seat on the council (which is allowed by Wisconsin law but seldom used) while he also runs for mayor.  The man was touted when he was elected to the council as a great, friendly guy, but Krause had to hold meetings with several important citizens who didn’t agree or get along with the man.

Krause once again did his best to keep the peace and make the city council the most responsive and rational elected organization in the city.  Hoyland’s response?  Run against the man who tried to help him from the get-go.  Pay attention when someone is letting you know they are not easy to like.  They are generally correct.
