LIVING HERE
The 30th Annual Winterfest will be here before you know it.
Wednesday, January 29, 2025, through Sunday, February 2, 2025. Of course, the big feature of Winterfest is the Snow Sculpting Invitational. Fifteen winning teams have been invited to return to Lake Geneva and compete once again. Some of you will remember the teams and are sure to be mesmerized with their skill once again. Of course, there will be other fun to have, as Winterfest is a celebration of winter and all things snow. Downtown will adorn the wonderful ice sculptures along most of its sidewalks. The Riviera Beach will have bonfires on the beach, live entertainment, and so much more. Mark your calendars and get ready for some great free winter fun in the wonderful Lake Geneva.
With the weather being rather nice for this time of year many have chosen to head outdoors for some exercise and fun.
The Lake Shore Path is a popular spot for both and is heavily traveled in all seasons. When you head out to walk the approximately twenty-two-mile path around Geneva Lake safety is a priority. During the winter months, the path may have different challenges, right now snow is not one of them. The wet and warmer-than-usual weather has created mud which can be quite slippery. During the winter months, the docks around the lake are removed for the winter and stored along the shore sometimes creating an obstacle while walking the path. A lot of avid hikers have walked the path this season without any issues.
If you are feeling ambitious and adventurous don’t let the winter stop you. Wear appropriate boots with good traction so that you aren’t afraid of getting dirty. Of course, some sections of the path are less daunting than other areas. The easiest place to walk is starting at the west end of Library Park in Lake Geneva, the south side of the path has proven to be a little more challenging than the north side. If you are looking for a map of the path a quick stop at Visit Lake Geneva Visitors Center on Wrigley Drive in Flat Iron Park is a perfect place to start your adventure.
