LIVING HERE

Sometimes only the words ‘of course’ fit a story.
Walworth County Sheriff’s Office urges drivers to slow down and use caution. The summer season is unofficially upon us, which means the roads are getting busier along with crosswalks. Children are outside enjoying the weather and their summer vacation, people are walking their dogs, motorcycles are out, and deliveries are being made, so we all need to be extra cautious. Kids and animals can dart out of nowhere.

The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office shared a picture of the radar on a squad car dashboard showing a driver clocked at 105 miles per hour. The speed limit in the area was 55. Speeding takes not only puts your life in your hands, but also everybody else’s as well. Nothing is urgent enough to destroy their life or yours.  Speeding at 105 in a 55 zone is not speeding at all, of course.  That’s reckless driving big time.  There is no point in telling people not to do that.  The people who do that simply need some comfort and quiet time in the county facilities built for people exhibiting that kind of behavior.

At 3:46 a.m., on May 2nd, 2025, the Lake Geneva Fire Department was dispatched to the scene of a traumatic fall victim.
The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office Telecommunicator, Bongle (last name only), fielded the call.  Utilizing Emergency Medical Dispatch protocols, the patient was determined to be in cardiac arrest. TC Bongle provided pre-arrival CPR instructions until the arrival of Officer Tripp and Officer Rockweiler of the City of Lake Geneva Police Department. Upon arrival of Med 281 EMT and fire truck Engine 281, lifesaving interventions were continued, including cardiac defibrillation and medication administration. At 3:57 a.m., was patient regained pulses and began displaying purposeful movement. The patient was subsequently transported to Aurora Lakeland Medical Center for further stabilization. A few days later, we were notified that the patient survived the cardiac arrest, neurologically intact and had no measurable heart muscle damage as a result of the cardiac arrest. The community cannot be prouder of this team for seamless teamwork resulting in a life saved.
