LIVING HERE
West Nile attack.
With summer here, that means the mosquitoes will be too. Mosquitoes are more active when there are warm temperatures, heavy rainfall, and high humidity. Juvenile mosquitoes need standing water to develop, so to help prevent swarms in your backyard by checking for any stagnant water in and around your property.
This summer is expected to be biting, as all the weather variables for mosquitoes are perfect for them to thrive. The City of Lake Geneva will be fogging for mosquitoes as needed during July, August, and September. Specific dates will be posted on when and where the fogging will take place on the City of Lake Geneva Website. The city understands there are concerns about the fogging and will conduct the fogging during times when residents are less likely to be outside and complete each event by 2 a.m.
There are no special precautions needed as the insecticide used is rated non-hazardous. If you have more questions, contact the public works department with any questions 262-248-6644. West Nile has been detected in McHenry and Crystal Lake, only half an hour to the south of Lake Geneva down in Illinois.
