LIVING HERE

The city has been working to improve Lake Geneva Parks and the Lakefront.
With the Park Board and Piers, Harbor, and Lakefront coming together as a team for the betterment of both, the city also started the process of finding a firm that could help with the large task. The Joint Piers, Harbor, and Lakefront Committee and the Park Board meeting last week reviewed the three firms that submitted proposals.

A lot of information was shared in the presentations of proposals for the comprehensive outdoor recreation plan (CORP). After all presentations, there was a discussion and recommendations regarding the selection of a firm for the comprehensive outdoor recreation plan (CORP). Snyder & Associates, Upland Design Ltd., and Vandewalle & Associates all gave detailed presentations regarding the lakefront and parks. All three firms that presented a proposal are reputable firms and had great presentations.

Vandewalle stood out to many committee and board members, as they have worked with and in Lake Geneva for years and know the layout and what they are working with. Vandewalle’s approach and scope of work fit the city’s needs. Highlights of the approach will include a comprehensive place-based process, multi-faceted public engagement, meaningful public participation, vision and goal setting, alignment with ongoing Hillmoor planning efforts, lakefront planning and evaluation, organized guidance for the park department, communication, parkland needs assessments, recommendations and implementation, compelling and useful plan products, and grant readiness.

Enhancing the city parks and lakefront is the goal, and the Piers, Harbor, and Lakefront Committee and the Park Board voted and recommended Vandewalle & Associates with a cost not to exceed $115,000.00 for approval at the city council.
