LIVING HERE
‘Click it or Ticket’ enforcement runs through June 2nd.
Click It or Ticket is a national high-visibility enforcement campaign that focuses specifically on the consequences of not wearing a seat belt while urging riders to always buckle up. As Memorial Day weekend and summer travel season approaches, law enforcement agencies across Wisconsin, including the Wisconsin State Patrol, are stepping up patrols for the annual Click It or Ticket campaign. The increased enforcement of seat belt violations runs through June 4, 2023, nationwide. State law requires all drivers and passengers to wear a seat belt when traveling in Wisconsin. Children must also be in the proper child safety seat for their age and size. The simple action of buckling up has been proven to save lives in accidents.
Together we can prevent more deaths by not wearing a seatbelt. There seems to be a misconception among those who drive and ride in pickup trucks that their large vehicles will protect them better than other vehicles in a crash. The numbers say otherwise: 61% of pickup truck occupants who were killed in 2022 were not buckled. That’s compared to 47% of passenger car occupants who were not wearing seat belts when they were killed. Regardless of vehicle type, seat belt use is the single most effective way to stay alive in a crash. The goal of Click It or Ticket is not simply to issue citations, but to educate the community on the importance of wearing a seat belt so remember to click it or get a ticket.
