Packers first round pick has roots right here in Fontana.
The Green Bay Packers selected defensive lineman Lukas Van Ness at No. 13 in the 2023 NFL Draft Thursday night. The Packers swapped first-round picks as part of the Aaron Rodgers trade, allowing them to draft Iowa defensive end Lukas Van Ness, a Barrington, Illinois, native. Van Ness spent the night, with his extended family, at his parents’ second home in Fontana, which is where he received the exciting phone call that he is on his way to becoming a Green Bay Packer.

Although he never started a game at Iowa, he said he obviously was happy with his decision to enter the draft. In 2022, Van Ness played in all 13 games for Iowa and had 37 total tackles, and six sacks. After celebrating with family, Van Ness is expected to travel to Green Bay for his official introductory news conference.

Road construction along Highway 50 by Lake Lawn is set to begin at any time.
Contractors working on the construction of the Harbor Club Drive public roadway are scheduled to begin excavation and paving for the new roadway. This will be the entrance point for the new subdivision being built on the Lake Lawn property in Delavan. Work will include traffic signals on Highway 50 at the County F (north) intersection. This work should begin mid-June, with activation of the new lights by mid-August. According to the developer’s Wisconsin DOT permit, one lane of Highway 50 in each direction must remain open at all times, with the exception of a full-stop interruption for safety when the overhead mast arms are to be swung into place. Use caution as you enter the City of Delavan from the east, or leave heading west, or plan to use an alternate route.
