LIVING HERE
There are two seasons in Wisconsin, winter, and road construction.
Road construction season is upon us. Nearly $3 million in state funds has been approved for a resurfacing project along segments of the I-43 Freeway, between US 12 in the city of Elkhorn and WIS 83 in the city of Mukwonago. Improvements include removing 2.5 inches of existing asphalt pavement along segments of I-43 and replacing it with new asphalt pavement. Update signing and pavement markings. Traffic will be maintained in both directions of I-43 during construction.
Work will be done in two stages: Stage 1A: I-43 inside lanes will be closed. Stage 1B: I-43 outside lanes will be closed. Stage 1A: I-43 inside lanes will be closed. Stage 1B: I-43 outside lanes will be closed. Access to local businesses and residences will be maintained. Construction is scheduled to begin on May 6. Work is scheduled for completion in late summer 2024. All work is weather-dependent and subject to change. The Lake Comus dam project is underway in Delavan. Terrace St. will be closed until complete. The dam will be fully replaced, and sections of the shoreline will be restored to help prevent erosion. North Terrace Street from Franklin Street south to the Lakeview Terrace Apartments driveway is closed.
While the project will likely take a long time, the finished results will be an incredible benefit to Delavan. Highway 11 will be closed to traffic in Elkhorn between I-43 and Cobb Road starting May 13 through mid-summer for culvert replacement by Bakers Creek. A detour utilizing HWY 67 and I-42 will be posted. A detour will be posted utilizing WIS 67 and I 43. Access to local businesses will be maintained. To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers has approved a $2.96 million improvement project along WIS 36, from WIS 120 to WIS 11 in the Town of Lyons. Improvements include the reconstruction of the bridge over Ore Creek, resurfacing approximately 6 miles of WIS 36 within project limits, and polymer overlay improvements to the WIS 36 bridge over WIS 11.
WIS 36 will be closed to traffic and detoured during construction. The detour will utilize WIS 11, WIS 83, WIS 50, US 12, and WIS 120. Flagging operations on White River State Trail under WIS 36 for bicycle and pedestrian traffic while bridge work is ongoing over the trail. Access to local businesses and residences will be maintained. Signs are posted for detours with construction expected through the end of September.
