LIVING HERE

The coordinators of the Walworth County free Thanksgiving meal are seeking help from the local communities.
Preparations for the 17th annual dinner are well underway. Last year, they supplied meals to over 950 seniors and families in need in the Walworth County area and fed an additional 275 dine-in or carry-outs. During the Thanksgiving Holiday, many people in Walworth County are economically challenged, have no family nearby to celebrate the holiday with, or may be home-bound or even homeless.

To provide all these meals to these seniors and families it will cost in the ballpark of $20,000 to $25,000. This year, the Thanksgiving Dinner tradition continues with a traditional buffet dinner dine-in. There also will be pick-up and delivery as well. This feast is cooked, served, and delivered by volunteers who work to make a difference in the lives of others.

Dinners will be available for dining in, pick-up, or delivery on Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 28, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., from Waters Edge on Delavan Lake 1220 S. Shore Dr., Delavan. With the high cost of the dinner, the organizers appreciate any donation big or small that is received. The best way to donate for this event is through a donation of Piggly Wiggly gift cards, Walmart gift cards, or cash donations with the check made out to the Walworth County Community Thanksgiving Dinner and either mailed to the Walworth County Community Thanksgiving Dinner, c/o Brenda Warrenburg, PO Box 908, Delavan, WI 53115 or call to have it picked up at (262) 749-4621.

The donation is tax deductible. Tax Exempt certificate is available upon request. If you would like to volunteer, please email Warrenburg: wccthanksgivingdinner@gmail.com and they will add you to the email list.

Once they get to the point of looking for volunteers, they will send out the signup Genius.
