LIVING HERE

Open letter to the Linn Town Board on October 10, 2022:

I had always assumed that the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) had also included the concern for humans along with our wildlife as its principal mission.

We are so very fortunate to have this natural gem of our lake, but some gems, like cut diamonds, have sharp cutting edges. We also are habit-forming and are very used to boating safely beyond the long-standing 100-foot limit to the length of our piers. Boating traffic has increased exponentially over the years, and we do not need an “on-board” measuring tape to discern safe distances beyond the end of the piers. Our boats are sea-going living rooms where we seek enjoyment and can entertain our guests. We, for many years, have been enjoying our guests and safely cruising beyond the usual 100-foot length of the piers.

I just wonder if years from now, good friends on opposite shores would like to join their piers to gather at mid-lake what our DNR would think? I see an unfortunate future if we extend beyond the usual and expected length of one hundred feet.

Very concerned,

Thomas Kincaid AIA NCARB

P.S. Please tell me what more could anyone do by extending their pier an additional length of twenty-five feet?
