LIVING HERE

The MSI Corporation.
That’s the name of the general contractor chosen to perform the Riviera Pier Complex redevelopment. That company went to the bridal party that was to have a wedding in early May of the year at the Riviera, a date that could not be reasonably met by the workers for completion of the Riviera work. MSI offered to pay the bride and groom the cost of their wedding if they would hold it somewhere else. Anywhere else. MSI offered to pay the entire cost of the wedding, not just the cost of potentially moving it. That request was denied and, at great expense to Lake Geneva, the workers, contractors, and sub-contractors had to pay premium prices for materials and run without bids. Before MSI might be considered the ‘bad guys’ in the expense overruns for the project it would do well to consider that the general contractor went to such effort to try to make the whole project finish with as little additional expense as possible. It might also do well to consider looking into who’s wedding was the event that simply could not be moved or changed no matter what the expense?

Burlington is going all out for Halloween.
“Burlington Spooky City” will be created on Saturday, October 30th, from 9:30 a.m. through 6:00 p.m. The day will be full of spooky family fun. A haunted bus, hayrides, coffin races, and trick-or-treating are just part of the fun. Downtown Burlington will have face-painting, pumpkin decorating, and crafts. There will be free hayrides downtown to enhance the fall holiday. The kids and adults are all encouraged to dress in costume and join the Costume Walking Parade that will begin at Wehmhoff Square, the very popular coffin races will begin on Pine Street, and from 11 a.m., until noon, trick-or-treating at the downtown businesses and there will be much enjoyment of the live street performers, doing their things for free for one and all. There will also be a photo contest, a free scary movie at the Plaza Theater, and later in the afternoon, a Ribfest in Wehmhoff Square. Burlington is in the middle of rebranding itself and with the event lineup it has for Halloween it is going well. Burlington is just twelve miles from Lake Geneva so check it out and join the fun. Like Richmond down across the Illinois line, Burlington is the same distance and time away…and both these communities are growing wonderfully to add to the surrounding area’s quality and fun.
