Looking on the Bright Side…

Lazzaroni has two big rocks, but two are not enough!
Mr. Lazzaroni went before the Planning Commission of the Town of Linn on Monday night to ask approval for more rocks. Jim Weiss, chairman of the Town Board of Linn, spearheaded the approval of Mr. Lazzaroni’s request to buttress the lakeshore below his home. Weiss once again proves that he’s an adroit surgeon when it comes to taking care of his patient-The Town of Linn. Weiss also complimented Mr. Lazzaroni for taking care of a problem that otherwise might have cost the town of Linn residents quite a sum. It was also wonderful to see a local resident, Mr. Dick Malmin, address the board with respect to ownership rights and responsibilities, between Mr. Lazarroni and the Town of Linn. Sometimes the public good is truly served well at small, relatively unknown town meetings.

Where is Lake Geneva’s Moss Park?
A simple question, but like a double edged sword, the city cannot answer that question without incriminating itself. There are two Moss Parks. One is at the southwest corner of George Street and Williams Street. It was rebuilt by the city, and is maintained by the City of Lake Geneva. The other Moss Park is listed in the city’s “Park and Open Space Plan” as a small triangular piece of undeveloped land located west of Madison Street, and between Henry Street and Marshal Street. The following map is from Google, and shows the same location for Moss Park as the City’s “Park and Open Space Plan”. Which goes to show it doesn’t make it true if it is on the internet, or in an official government document.
So what is the big deal about having two Moss Parks, at two different locations?

  • First: If it was a simple snafu, then the city would have to acknowledge its error, and correct it. Which they should have done last February, when it was brought to their attention.
  • Second: Since it is not a snafu, it implies that city officials have, or allegedly have, deliberately violated laws by having city workers perform ongoing maintenance work on private property.

That is a serious offense. If city officials cannot be honest about little things, then why would anyone expect them to be honest when it comes to accounting for the $30 million dollars of TID#4 taxes that have.
