A TRUE PATRIOT


What is an American patriot? What is the foundational belief system ‘installed’ into a citizen’s brain that allows for and exhibits a classic definition of what the word really means? That definition: “a person who loves, supports, and defends his or her country and its interests with devotion.” Once thinking about this definition for a bit one might notice that there’s nothing about belonging to a party, being in the military, or other paramilitary local service involved. Police, Marines, Harley riders, those owning and driving pickup trucks or college professors and students have no more claim to the term than anyone else without the belief system that lays the foundations of its perceived and understood meaning.

Patriotism can involve action, as well as endorsing, supporting, and wanting action to apply the meaning of the word to the existence and continuance of the country itself. There’s also nothing in that definition that calls for perception and understanding. Those two things are information dependent, and the information provided to remotely located (almost everyone in the country) people about situations, occurrences, and events, not to mention things said by those considered notable enough to be on television, radio, or popular podcasts, can and has been not only sketchy but filled with lies and prevarications for many years on end.

The publisher and writer of this article is neither a Republican nor a Democrat and does not accept being an independent either, as his mind is made up about being a patriot instead, and yes, there is a difference. To work to discover and then discern real ‘facts’ about what’s going on concerning the continuance, functioning, and future fate of the country requires a constant study, review, and acceptance of all sources available in every venue that can be accommodated due to the time and effort such discovery and investigation required. This man considers himself to be a true patriot, but that designation is self-made and self-promoted, as may be seen from the reading of this article. Almost everyone in the country claims this word ‘patriot’ as their very own, but what is the true part of the article really all about?  Why was it used and what does it mean?

The word and the act of consigning oneself to attempting to meet the meaning of that word is hazy, and not really in its definition, but in taking it to action. Patriot is a word like the word ‘fight.’ People ‘fight’ cancer, hunger, political figures, neighbors, and even friends, but they don’t generally do so in a violent confrontational, and very physical way with one another. Real fighting, as a professional boxer once said, is not so much in being able to hit hard but in being able to take being hit hard. What does it take to be a real patriot in today’s culture of America and how much is that going to be a challenging change as the new administration, now in office, begins to apply the kind of societal tortures that can only truly be applied to some used in the Middle Ages. The upper classes and wealthy will not notice much of a change as their situations and values will be preserved, but the lower classes and the poor are going to suffer to a much greater degree and even die much more frequently and earlier as the new rules are applied like the ever-increasing pressure of turning levers on a medieval torturer’s rack. Those policies being discussed by the new leadership involve things and effects not needed by these humans occupying the wealthier ranks and higher classes. They do not need health insurance, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, pensions, retirement plans, or society-beneficial help plans in any way so, given that the very wealthy supported this new administration, the talk of those things to effect and cut are all about those unnecessary items to the wealthy.

If you are a real patriot, then what are you willing to do to ensure that the country somehow survives and thrives against what may be coming?  Are you going to fight the use of that word in those earlier described conditions and programs, and contribute money, display posters, or even march in protest or are you going to be willing to really fight? There are over five hundred million guns in the hands of the public across all of America.   As a real patriot are you willing to take up arms if the majority of lower and poor classes of your fellow Americans are starved, beaten, and killed by some members of your same culture in powerful positions (and their minions)? Are you, possibly considering yourself a true patriot willing to take up arms in order to obey the words of this nation’s first true document setting it onto a course of action that even you once enjoyed and understood:  “When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

Wait. Watch. Read. Decide…and then be willing to really fight if such duty calls and you can no longer sit back and remain retired.
