SO, NUKE ME
How have we arrived at a time, following the creation of the Mutually Assured Destruction agreement, that somebody (that would be Putin) would decide to use the MAD agreement as a foundation for going after everything the man has ever wanted. Screw it, is the new attitude. So, nuke me, is the unspoken foundation for attacks on other countries. By throwing all caution to the wind, and risking it all at any time, Putin has taken a new tack never before taken by any leader since WWII. He acts like he doesn’t care, and maybe he doesn’t. In fact, he gambles that this is exactly what the other nuclear weapon countries will think.
What does the world do with this, when all of a sudden people are again stocking up on toilet paper (of all things, unnecessary, but indicative of great social fear) and accepting outrageous prices based upon Russian trade or supplies that don’t exist? Where has reality gone? What dark place of depression have all the countries of the world been dragged into? Depression is a communicable disease and that’s never been more evident than right now.
The world is dragged into Putin’s depression, which sure as hell helps him feel better, although facial expressions are not something he is really capable of denoting that.
Meanwhile, at home and in supposed sanctuaries of good economic sense and ethics, the robber barons of oil and gas stick it to the public. Why western countries continue to allow private companies to pump oil up out of the ground (which should belong to all of us) for almost nothing, and then sell it in a monopoly fashion for trillions, is not only rotten but seemingly almost Godless. These people ought to be thrown right in with the Russians when it comes to public disgust, and they too should have their giant yachts, chateaus, private jets, and limos taken away from them.
At what point will the public really catch on? We don’t have much in the way of great highways anymore, or safe bridges, or high-speed rail, or even major advances in aircraft, but boy-oh-boy do we have weapons. It’s kind of surprising that Russia seems to want to ignore that last part and thinks it can do what it wants using nuclear fear. No nation on earth loves to go to war more than the USA, however, and no other nation is as successful at executing under fire during a war. The risk of nuclear war and how we handle ourselves in dealing with powers that have nuclear and choose to go conventional…using the threat of nuclear to keep other conventional forces at bay?
There is really no choice. We have to face the threat at some point, or millions will die because sociopaths like Putin have no inner core of emotion. Humans so cursed (and a curse upon us all) unfortunately go through their days functionally, and that functionality takes the form of death and dishonor, expressed and internalized. The U.S. must prepare for nuclear war or come to a decision that it is going to abandon Europe, NATO, and all of that…and lose millions of lives in the process.
No human authorizes the murder of women and children inside a maternity facility without being a sociopath. Germany is the last country to have a great number of like-minded sociopaths sit in judgment of much of the world…and look what happened. Sociopaths, however, are not stupid. They know what they are and have generally learned to ‘pass’ in society by making them believe they have emotions.
There has been no greater threat to what we know as a civilization today than what is going on right now. Crouching in terror and fear is no way to live. Give me liberty or give me death. Sociopaths do respond to being killed, however. I don’t know what plans are in the works for that, but somebody’s got to be thinking about it. However, there may be another effective option.
There have been no successful guerilla wars fought against entire country populations in recent history. Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, Hungary, the other Soviet countries. The aggressor always ends up losing over time. Is there a place for Ukraine to surrender? Ukraine hunkers down, with European and U.S. support, and fights an insurgency from below…thereby surviving its women and children and further weakening Russia, the aggressor nation that must then maintain a huge military force in the country and pay dearly with daily or hourly sniping and IEDs.
Why the hell not? Death by ten thousand cuts. Meanwhile, the rest of the world starves Russia into total submission, and if China supports Russia, then China too. It’s about time that the phrase ‘made in the USA’ has some real meaning and bite to it.
