THE FORLORN HOPE
A writer named Bernard Cornwell wrote a series of books. Inside those tomes, about a young man rising in the ranks by the name of Sharp, was a battle for a castle during the early 1800s. A certain battle of Badajoz is featured, and the phrase ‘the forlorn hope’ was created to describe the unfortunate few who would be at the tip of an attempt to penetrate a castle wall that had just been fractured. The chances were extremely high that all those who entered the breech would be killed, but that didn’t stop many from volunteering. The Battle of Badajoz Castle was joined, the walls broken, and the forlorn hope penetrated to open the gates and let goodness come through to eradicate the evil inside.
There is evil occurring across the land, and its octopus tentacles have extended out across the sea to the very shores of Venezuela. American cities are seeing the launching of attacks at their very center of existence. Economies are imperiled at home and abroad. Fake money, fake advertising, fake drugs, fake video presentations, and fake news abound, almost unfettered by formerly stately and rigid integrity assemblies now shattered or minimized into pulpy word masses of nothingness.
Is this the time that tries men’s souls? Is this the time when bands of men and women must come together and form a forlorn hope of modern times to go at the smallest cracks surrounding what’s rapidly becoming a veritable castle of evil? Outside this ‘castle,’ or the leadership circle of the United States of America, who is to make the decisions about what is evil and what is not? It is one thing to send those about to die to pierce the castle walls and bring about, through the death of so many, a dissolution of evil intent and actions.
The organization of such a Forlorn Hope would be likely as disorganized as the earlier force, more a product of generally occurring and observed necessity than planning. It would, or will, be a force not made up of military commanders currently obeying illegal and unconstitutional orders and murdering citizens of other countries at sea (they will face no statute of limitations court martials, trials, and severe punishments in the future), nor cruel and merciless ICE agents. The type of people who will serve in this coming Forlorn Hope will be smarter and more erudite. They will forego the U.S. Constitution in a different way than the indirect ‘death by a thousand cuts’ the current administration is forcing on the American public, as well as that of other nations.
No, they will take up whatever arms of force are necessary, including the force of their own sacrificed loss of life, to go backward from the hope and brilliant writing of the Constitution. Only the Declaration of Independence will serve to motivate, drive and justify their actions: “That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to affect their Safety and Happiness.”
There’s a modern background for the foreground of what went before. The American democratic ‘experiment’ was well formed but not without fears that one day it would be under great assault. It was simply never calculated that an imbecilic demented man would take over the executive offices of the country and then have the overwhelming support of the wealthy, the elected representatives also making fortunes, and a sad portion of the population supporting him even when he keeps doing things that are directly damaging to them, as well as everyone else.
When and where will this Forlorn Hope arise to be set against the tyranny so evident all over the United States? This cannot be predicted, not because humanity hasn’t been here before, but because technology never existed before to be so involved and supportive of such evil. A.I. is not about intelligence. It’s about the “I” standing for imprisonment. Cryptocurrency is about the currency of the crypt and makes future currency, if it is fully adopted, simply another tool of evil players. The Internet continues without requiring all those who use or access it to be identified will continue to grow as an able tool of this evil. Purchased media outlets will continue to make news instead of reporting it. Cell phone use without controls will continue to separate society instead of bringing it together, as everyone once thought it would.
The Forlorn Hope of the past was born out of awful, basal, and down on humanity’s knees in bloody hopelessness. The American society is not there yet, and this article is not intended to be one trying to forge a Forlorn Hope. It is, instead, simply making a prediction of what must come if humanity is to be saved as an intelligent, thinking, caring, and working together set of cultures. If the Forlorn Hope does not appear, then a retreat back to great alpha males running troops of subdued underlings and subjugated women and spawn of only the leader’s sperm will return, as existed for the first nearly million years of mankind’s early development. God gave everyone and everything on this planet the freedom to commit suicide or live in misery. It’s not likely that any amount of prayer will change God’s imperatives. Will He now look down and move his finger ever so slightly to begin the growth of a Forlorn Hope?
