OUR PLACE

Spring clean-up is going on right now.
This spring, Mother Nature has thrown a few more branches and debris on the wet ground than usual. March struck with an abundance of snow, ice, wind, and rain, creating a challenge for everyone and a lot of work to get recovered (most of which is still underway). As people are out cleaning up, Lake Geneva’s street department is going around picking up the piles set out along the curbs.  The great debris pile at the city lot is seeing a big increase in activity, as many residents take their spring piles in themselves. The city started brush pick up at the beginning of April and that will continue through May.

The other 2023 election news.

  • Hank Sibbing, Lake Geneva’s long-serving and much beloved local judge, won re-election without half trying (although he campaigned quite strongly).  This great man, and terrific counselor to the city’s youth, gathered in 1407 votes while his competitor received 529.  It is always good to see those who do such diligent and honorable work on behalf of the city and its residents well rewarded.  Congratulations Judge Sibbing!
  • Jim Livingston, the very well respected and most capable town supervisor over in the Town of Linn won his re-election campaign.  He got 476 votes while his opponent received 256.
  • The P.R.A.T. tax addition to sales failed by a vote of 1118 to 1062.  [
  • Finally, the Wisconsin Supreme Court went handily and overwhelmingly to the democrat in that race, although Walworth County was not part of supporting her at all.
