OUR PLACE

The monetary outflow from the city is into wherever.
New trolley cars that the city will buy to be offered to someone to operate, from where to where, at what cost to the taxpayer, and then to the riders.  Home Depot no longer wants trolley cars because they don’t want anyone using their bathrooms from the parking lot without making a purchase.  They have installed the Flock system to rid themselves of supposedly ‘unwelcome’ guests.

On Tuesday, the GSR went into the store and counted exactly 11 employees and twenty-four customers.  It might seem to any wise management person in that store that the store does not have long-term goals for this financial world with that kind of participation.  There are two other options for former Home Depot customers.

Dunn’s Lumber has plenty of wood and real great caring and knowledgeable staff, and nobody says anything about using the bathroom, which is also spick and span. The second option is to go online.  Nothing is locked in cages that must be unlocked (took 22 minutes on Tuesday!), and things are delivered almost delivery cost-free.  Unless you need raw lumber, then online is the way to go.

Home Depot has done this to itself, while the GSR is simply watching the very slow fall of the monster store.   The expensive police boat is also up and running, to nowhere and docked to be enjoyed by God knows whom.  A quarter of a million and counting.  The new ‘safety’ building property is being considered for purchase near Symphony Bay, with that tract paying nothing for its new location nearby.  Fine, encourage the development to get its own services for police and fire.  A track in San Clemente, California, was in this same situation and decided to go out for bid for private services.  The bid came in at twelve million dollars a year.  The development decided to chip in a million a year to the city, very wisely.
