OUR PLACE

Story Corps is coming to Lake Geneva.
The Lake Geneva Library has partnered with Story Corps to preserve the intimate personal history of Lake Geneva and the people who love it. The mission of Story Corp is to preserve and share humanity’s stories in order to build connections between people and create a more just and compassionate world. Story Corps preserves history by recording interviews and archiving them for current and future generations to enjoy.

To learn more about what, who, when, and where this will happen, and how it works there will be discussed at a community meeting conveniently scheduled at the library for Sunday, May 1, 2022, from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m.  The library formally re-opened on Monday at high noon.  It is an amazing place, fully taking advantage of a gorgeous view along the southern shore of Geneva Lake.  The place is open from 9 to 5 on Mondays thru Wednesdays and 8 to 4 on Thursdays through Saturdays.

The Lake Geneva library is closed on Sundays, which is in line with the fifty percent, or so, of libraries across the country. Emily, the head librarian, is almost always there to help, guide, and even entertain.  You have to see the newly refurbished library. You won’t be disappointed.

Stop & Go, the laundromat, and everything else on that patch of land is no more.
Kwik Trip will soon have a new location on Wells Street. Last week Monday, right after closing the store on Sunday, work began on the property. The gas pumps and fuel tanks were removed, the gas pump awning was removed, signage was taken down, clearing of foliage and debris, asphalt and concrete were removed, and the old laundromat and Stop & Go buildings were razed. Kwik Trip did not waste any time due to so much extra time being taken to get approval from neighboring residents and the city. The goal is to be completed with the convenience store, gas station, and car wash by early fall and open for business. The Kwik Trip will be a fresh clean addition to Wells Street.

So many traditional, and not so traditional, Easter egg hunts will take place this coming weekend and next.
Easter Egg Hunts are not always just for kids. Fontana is having its Easter egg hunt for dogs on Saturday, April 9th, at 10 a.m.  Quite naturally, all dogs participating in the hunt need to be up to date with rabies vaccination and there’s a $10.00 fee per dog. All proceeds will benefit Lakeland Animal Shelter. Bring the dogs out to enjoy the great outdoors, each other, and plenty of kibble-filled eggs.

An adult Easter Dusting, hosted by Staller Estate Winery, located at W8896 Co Road A, will be taking place Saturday, April 16th, from 11 a.m. through 6 p.m. Over two-hundred-and-fifty eggs will be filled with some great prizes. Let your inner child out and let the hunt begin. Of course, there are some other fun annual Easter egg hunts going on this weekend.

Williams Bay Recreation Department is hosting a drive-up event at the Williams Bay Highschool parking lot. Drive-up at 10 a.m. and get a bag of filled eggs and take them home for the hunt. The Easter Bunny will be collecting food items for the local food pantry. If you can’t make any of the hunts this week there will be more next weekend.
