OUR PLACE

The mystery of the Cadillac fob solved.
Someone left a Cadillac key fob lying next to a bench in front of the Driehaus fountain, just behind the Riviera Pier Building on Friday.  The Geneva Shore Report video staff were there to film the morning weather and news reports and one of the staff members found the fob, laying under the bench unattached to anything.  The staff announced the discovery on the news and then, following that, delivered the fob to the Lake Geneva Police Department.  That wonderful department took over.  The terrific woman at the window said that she’d call an officer in, have him drive around the area to see if they could find the Cadillac.  He did that, and voila!

Cadillac found and then the guy who lost the fob. Without that fob he wasn’t going anywhere as he was a tourist to the area.  What a great police department.  The officer stopped one of our staff to report what the rest of the story was.  Just a joyous town to live in, even with the terrible summer traffic, even worse parking…and then there’s the current anemic leadership team, but what the heck, the whole rest of the story is typified by that guy getting his fob back because so many in the right place did the right thing.

Lake Geneva is, indeed, the right place.

Not so secret talks are going on between Lake Geneva Fire and Town of Linn Fire departments.
The fire departments have some problems that might be fixed if the two communities operated as one for the purposes of fire protection.  Lake Geneva would like a facility located further east and south of its current downtown location.  Town of Linn would like to have more firefighters available to its citizens and have more immediate coverage for its citizens located across the road along Snake Road on the other side of the lake (Lake Geneva fire response time is almost twelve minutes by most accessible routes to those properties).  Seems like the coming together of emergency services would be great for both, but the discussions have not reached the point where funding is involved.  Who’s going to pay for what will play a very important part before this informal series of discussions becomes something to be voted on by the Lake Geneva City Council and the Town of Linn board.
