OUR PLACE
The price of gasoline plummets.
Will President Biden or Governor Evers get any thanks or appreciation for the price of gasoline coming down so substantially? Both went to work on the problem, given the paucity of power both leaders have over the oil industry, and tried to drive the price of gasoline down. The price of gasoline has come down substantially, yet duplicitous leaders like Ron Johnson, Scott Walker and so many more, including media outlets like Fox and Newsmax, now change their stories to make it seem that the price of gasoline is merely a function of people driving less and has nothing to do with the leaders they designed political ads to destroy using that information.
The country is wallowing in an information whirlwind and whirlpool of distortions and lies, which has become evermore the message of most mainstream media over the last five to ten years. The price of gasoline had to come down, incidentally, because if it had continued to skyrocket then the nation’s leaders would have been forced to nationalize oil assets and production facilities…and that would have been a terminal loss to a whole lot of billionaires. We couldn’t have that!
Have you bothered to stand on the corner of Main Street and Broad during the period of almost any summer day?
If you haven’t then you’ve missed something indeed. Loud, abusive, oversized, and aggressively nastily driven delivery trucks. The town is becoming suffused with this modern affliction, as trains have reduced loads and trucks have multiplied in number as well as grown in size. It’s almost impossible to have a conversation or sit outside of one of the many restaurants that serve in that capacity during the busy summer months. The key to solving this problem lies with the city council. Ordinances are needed that deal with size limitations for trucks, and that includes Highway 50 through the downtown area. Size, weight, and sound are the issues. These three elements are all measurable and ordinances enforceable.
All across the United States there exist such ordinances, and those already written pieces of legislation can be easily cloned and the measuring and enforcement procedures copied. There is no reason that Lake Geneva cannot remain (or return to being) the quiet peaceful haven it has become famous for being. It takes leadership, work, and some investment, however.
