OUR PLACE

Every damned week.
The Geneva Shore Report has to state that the washrooms, so expensively built to be open to the public most times of the day and some of the nights are still locked from Thursday through Sunday, and that’s not only stupid since they were purpose-built to be open at almost all times, it’s also shabby.  This city is better than that.

The businesses do not need to be the ‘bad guys’ in this city because they can’t allow everyone to use their bathrooms. They don’t have the money or staff to take care of keeping up a public bathroom, but the public comes in and demands to use the washrooms.  What are the owners and operators to do?  What they did.  Get the city to take care of the problem.  What did the city do (so far)?  They tossed a ball high into the air of small-town life and then walked away instead of catching it. This city needs those bathrooms and the GSR is not going to quit putting pressure on the leadership until this problem is taken care of.

The shortest day, and longest night, of 2021 was Tuesday, December 21st, marking the winter solstice. In the northern hemisphere, this date designates the 24-hour period with the least amount of daylight hours for the year. It also marks a day to celebrate seasonal change with the first day of winter. During the winter solstice, the Earth’s North Pole is pointing further away from the sun which is, of course, why everything becomes colder and darker. This also means the sun is at its lowest point in the sky, even at high noon. After the winter solstice the days start getting longer and the nights shorter, although it takes many months for the colder weather to decline in step with the axial tilt of the planet. The winter solstice might mean the start of winter, but it also means the days are growing longer. It only gets brighter from here on in! Happy Solstice and winter to all!
