It’s the giving season and less than three weeks until Christmas.
If you are looking to help others out during the holidays there are plenty of opportunities. Every act of kindness, from a smile and friendly hello, to paying for the groceries of the person in front of you, makes a big difference to that person and you. This act of generosity is a gift to the receiver and a gift to the giver. If you are still looking for a way to help someone or a family out and aren’t sure where to start, there are helpful organizations you can contribute to too.
The students at Badger High School Decca Program are helping out fellow students and families and are looking for your help.
There are Christmas tags at the local Avant and Bike Shop downtown Lake Geneva with a child’s wish list on it. You can grab a tag or two and fill the list. Deadline and drop off for this generous event are listed on each Christmas tag.
There is still time to donate to Hope Now. Hope Now is a generous organization that helps so many families during the holidays and throughout the year. This community group not only helps with holiday needs but also focuses on providing short-term emergency assistance in the Elkhorn school district. Hope Now is looking for donations for Christmas. Donations are being accepted now through December 12th. Gift cards for groceries, gas, and gifts are very much needed to help spread Hope for the Holidays. The giving season is here, and Toys for Tots is an easy way to participate in the season. Many local businesses have the familiar bin in store and any new unwrapped toy is accepted. This wonderful program is The Marines’ way, with your help, of delivering hope to children at Christmas time. Toys for Tots is a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve that distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve ‘Toys for Tots Program’ is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November, and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
